Full Job Description

About All Saints Catholic College

All Saints is an 11-16 school, situated near the northern boundary of Kirklees. We are a Catholic school with students attending from diverse cultural backgrounds, which contribute to the distinctive ethos. In November 2022, Ofsted judged All Saints "Good" in every category, and we received an "Outstanding" judgement from our S48 inspection by the Diocese of Leeds in June 2018.

About the role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Science Technician to support our thriving science department from October 2024.

The successful candidate's role will be to work with our science department to provide technical support for practical lessons, ensuring that resources and equipment are prepared and available.

You will support the learning and teaching activities working closely with, and under the guidance and supervision of, the Advanced Science Technician.

The successful candidate will have good literacy and numeracy skills, be reliable and have excellent communication skills.

Experience of working in a school and/or a laboratory is desirable, although full training will be given to the successful candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our College. In turn, we are looking for a candidate committed to playing a part in transforming the lives of our young people.

Please note, you will be working 32.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8am - 3pm during term time. You will also work an additional day at the start of each academic year for staff training.

What we can offer you

At All Saints Catholic College, we aim to create a happy work place culture through promoting a healthy work/life balance. We do that by providing a package of flexible employee benefits, including:

  • An attractive pension scheme for both Teaching and Support staff.

  • A high-quality wellbeing package including medical cover, counselling, physiotherapy, fast track medical cover, care service and a 24 hour GP-helpline.

  • Care First Advice - a 24/7 information and counselling service.

  • We are part of the Cycle to Work scheme. Tax free bikes and safety equipment can be payable by payroll deduction through a partnership with Cyclescheme.

  • Free parking.

  • Application process

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who are able to work as part of the whole staff team, and who will support and uphold the Catholic ethos and practices of the school.

    To apply, please visit https://www.aschc.co.uk/recruitment/

Enquiries should be emailed to Miss C Taylor at hr@aschc.com

Please note, we are unable to accept CVs as an application for any of our vacancies.

Interviews will take place during w/c 16th September 2024.

All Saints is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Therefore, we expect all workers, volunteers and employees to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced Criminal Record with Barred List check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

It is an offence to apply for the role if an applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children (where the role involves this type of regulated activity).

A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.

Due to the number of application forms we receive, we regret we can only contact shortlisted candidates.

The successful candidate will have good literacy and numeracy skills, be reliable and have excellent communication skills.

Experience of working in a school and/or a laboratory is desirable, although full training will be given to the successful candidate.
