Full Job Description
We're looking for an exceptional Scientist - Momentum Partnership Global Modelling to help us make a difference to our planet. As our Scientist, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work. Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work part-time and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share. Our people are at the heart of what we do and we'll do our best to agree a working pattern that works for everyone.,
- Provide technical support to enable effective use of Momentum and its associated software for global modelling configurations across the Momentum Partnership. This support can be delivered remotely or through visits to Momentum partner organizations, through an understanding of Momentum partner strengths and capabilities
- Providing technical support for Momentum partners to contribute to joint science and technical infrastructure plans, specifically focused on global science configurations
- Improving the use of common collaboration tools used by Momentum partners such as tools to visualise, evaluate the model and produce required ancillary data.
- Undertaking research aligned with Momentum partner scientific or technical programmes This role may require visits to partner organisations for periods of around 1 week to 1 month.
- Keep evolving - Understanding of the maths and physics relevant to the post, including the technical, numerical and scientific issues related to global coupled modelling
- Expert by nature - Demonstrable Scientific programming skills in languages such as Python and Fortran, and with a focus on quality assurance
- Live and breathe - Evidence of an organised approach to work and ability to cope with a range of competing demands
- Better together - Evidence of ability to work well with people and foster collaboration
