Full Job Description

Thurrock has an exciting opportunity for Band 6 Health Visitors. If you are an experienced Health Visitor, or soon to be qualified Health Visitor, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking to recruit motivated practitioners with initiative and drive who are keen to contribute to the further development of our service. We work in close collaboration with Family Hub's as well as other agencies to improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities for children, young people and their families in our borough.

For newly qualified practitioners, we have a Preceptorship Programme in place to aid your development. We also offer a wide range of 'in-house' and other training opportunities for continuous professional development through our learning and development department.

We provide monthly clinical supervision, mentorship and yearly appraisals to support you in your role and development. We are an inclusive organisation and are keen to celebrate the success and hard work provided by practitioners in improving the health outcomes for children we work with.

To provide key contacts as per the Healthy Child programme, identifying and assessing health needs. Working within the wider multidisciplinary team to provide appropriate support for families.

To identify and assess children 0-5 with complex health needs, offering an enhanced integrated service within the multi agency team.

To identify possible safeguarding concerns and escalate for support as required, working with other agencies across the borough.

You will need to have the ability to work autonomously and as part of an integrated skill mix team. You need to have excellent communication skills and experience of working in partnership across organisational boundaries. You need to be willing to facilitate and support change in service delivery.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,258 and a maximum payment of £2,122 per annum pro rata).
