Full Job Description

We are looking for an Band 5 Registered Nurse/ODP to join our friendly team at the Day Surgery Unit, Cirencester Treatment Centre working for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This vacancy is for a registered nurse or ODP to act as a scrub nurse in theatre but also be willing to develop into the dual role of scrub/anaesthetic nurse. Cirencester Treatment Centre is situated within Cirencester Hospital and has one Day Surgery Theatre , a one bedded recovery area and a nurse led pre and post operative ward.
The Treatment Centre is open Monday to Friday from 07:30-19:00. Theatre sessions run from 09:00-17:00
Our specialties include Orthopaedics & Oral Surgery.
We have an active Practice Development Team based at the acute hospital sites who support the training and induction of new members of staff and their development thereafter.
We will consider part time hours for this position., To act as scrub nurse for surgical procedures undertaken in theatre.
- To develop skills and training to become proficient in anaesthetic nursing
- Ability to de-escalate and resolve complaints locally from patients, visitors and staff
- To liaise with the Senior Sister/Centre Manager and Band 6's to ensure a safe, efficient and well led service.
- Ensure personal and professional development is progressed through Individual Performance Development Review and PREP guidelines
-Demonstrate understanding of research based practice, and participate as required in audit., To deliver safe care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely and as appropriate.
- To administer medication and treatment within Procedure for the Ordering, Prescribing and Administration of Medication Guidelines.
- To deliver and receive information which may cause emotional distress to all parties.
- Participate in mentorship and educational programmes for students and unqualified members of the team.
- To adhere to all Trust policies and procedures and professional code of conduct.
- To input and retrieve patient and staff information from computer based systems.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records.

Registered Nurse/ODP
- IT skills e.g. Electronic Patient Systems
- Enhanced levels of dexterity and accuracy pertaining to clinical skills e.g. administration of intravenous injections, knowledge of aseptic technique.
- Act as a resource for all staff disseminating clinical skills and knowledge.
- Demonstrate ability to assess patient condition and implement appropriate care, within the multidisciplinary team.
- To communicate effectively, especially where patient ability to do so is compromised.
- Ability to disseminate contentious and delicate information appropriately.
