Full Job Description

This is a substantive post SDEC unit are pleased to welcome applications for 2 Band 3 Technician posts . The successful candidate will be required to work closely with the Unit Manager, unit nursing team.
- Ability to get on well with people at all levels and work effectively as a team member, and supporting the delivery of assessed and evaluated programs of care.
- Under guidance, deliver safe patient care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely and as appropriate.
- To adhere to all Trust policies & procedures.
- Communicate effectively, especially where pts ability to do so is compromised, including an ability to deal with routine pt enquirers. On occasions, the job holder may be exposed to distressing or emotional circumstances.
- Undertake specific delegated tasks following the appropriate training and competency level including undertaking daily basic safety checks on emergency equipment, recording of routine observations.
- Deliver high standards of care acting as a role model for all nursing staff., Undertake specific delegated tasks following the appropriate training and competency level like ECG and blood glucose monitoring, reporting any abnormalities to RGN.
To work with medical and nursing staff, providing support and ability to perform delegated tasks to contribute to expediting treatment for presenting medical conditions
Where appropriate, escort of patients test.
Undertake daily basic safety checks on emergency equipment.
Undertake specific delegated tasks following the appropriate training and competency level including undertaking daily basic safety checks on emergency equipment, recording of routine observations, baseline observations including ECG and blood glucose monitoring, reporting any abnormalities RGN
Assist the registered nurse in the admission, treatment and discharge of patients and the evaluation of specific programs of care, by completing approved areas of documentation
Where appropriate, escort of patients, for example to x-ray or to appropriate wards.

To do this we have developed an innovative Trustwide Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Service both in Gloucester and Cheltenham Hospitals based on national best-practice guidelines. The aim is to provide increased health outcomes for patients, redesigning the emergency care model so that care can be provided on the same day. Patients admitted through this pathway are seen diagnosed, treated and discharged on the same day, leaving admission to a hospital bed reserved only for very sick patients.

Dexterity and accuracy pertaining to clinical skills.
Ability to manage own workload and organise others.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills verbal and written.
To work with medical and nursing staff, providing support and ability to perform delegated tasks to contribute to expediting treatment for presenting medical conditions
Practical ability, prioritisation and time management, NVQ 2/3 in Health Care
- Appropriate experience as a health care assistant
- Previous experience in a relevant specialty
