Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint a lead for Midwifery to join the SE GMSA to undertake operational leadership to support the implementation of national and local transformation projects ensuring the mainstreaming of genomics in nursing and midwifery activity. Supported by the Director of Nursing/Midwifery, the roles will be part of the clinical leadership team working together to ensure delivery of the programme., To support the Director of Nursing/Midwifery and lead the nursing/midwifery working group to develop and implement the transformation programme by:
+ Producing a stakeholder map to identify the relevant networks for midwives across the region, develop and implement an appropriate strategy to engage them with the GMSA and wider national midwifery programme.
+ Carrying out a baseline review of current awareness and input from midwives to genomics and related pathways and identify best practice to be shared or gaps where midwifery input regarding diagnosis/care would be beneficial.
+ Lead and develop, in collaboration with other leads, events that will increase awareness of genomic medicine, including but not limited to learning forums, awareness days and network events.
+ Provide clinical leadership for midwifery across all other NHSE funded transformation projects to ensure that learning is embedded into clinical practice across primary and secondary care where relevant and to ensure key performance indicators are achieved
+ Working closely with the Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Education and Training and Workforce Development Lead and Genetic Counselling Lead, develop a strategy for workforce development and delivery of genomics education and training opportunities for the midwifery workforce across the geography.[INS: This will include working with Higher Education Institutions to support embedding of Genomics principles within the undergraduate curriculum. :INS] [INS: :INS]
+ Working closely with the Director of Nursing and Midwifery and Communications Lead to develop an engagement strategy for the nursing workforce across the geography
+ Identify high impact, in terms of benefits to patients, future projects that focus on implementing genomics in midwifery clinical practice; taking into consideration upskilling of the current workforce, new roles and new ways of working
+ Identify and mobilise other midwives or genomics champions across the region who can help with project(s) delivery
+ Work with the GMSA team and Patient and Public Engagement group to review care pathways and ensure they maximise the opportunity for patients to benefit from genomics

+ Work with colleagues in the clinical leadership team to optimise the benefits of a multi-disciplinary approach to developing and implementing the business plan and transformation projects.
+ Work with the Director Nursing/Midwifery to support the delivery of GMSA priorities related to the nursing/midwifery transformation programme.
+ Maintain own continuing professional development as appropriate.
