Full Job Description
Do you have significant maritime instructional experience and are seeking an exciting new role? The RNLI is recruiting for a full-time Sea Survival Centre Trainer in Poole. There aren't many jobs that combine the excitement and the thrill of training volunteer lifeboat crews in personal sea survival techniques and capsize training on the Atlantic and D class lifeboats, and ultimately providing crew with the skills and knowledge to save lives at sea. As a Sea Survival Centre Trainer, you can expect to:
- In this physically demanding role, you will need to maintain a good level of fitness due to spending prolonged periods in the sea survival pool, whilst confidently teaching and ensuring student safety
- Deliver sea survival training at the dedicated Sea Survival Centre in Poole, to the high standards expected of the RNLI (this includes adhoc delivery of training in external sea survival centres around the UK and Ireland)
- Undertake assessments and report on performance
- Ensure the training lifeboats and associated equipment are kept in good working order
To succeed in this role, extensive sea survival and maritime instructional experience is desirable, as well as: - A maritime background with a thorough understanding of operating a range of craft
- Extensive knowledge of the RNLI and the needs of volunteer crew members
- An innovative and inclusive training style
- The ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and staff, course participants, and the existing training team
Our purpose is simple, to save lives at sea. Since the 19^th century, our crews have been risking their lives to save those who are in danger of drowning.
