Full Job Description

Salary: You'll be paid an hourly rate in line with the Living Wage Foundation's rates, regardless of your age. Each month, you'll have the chance to earn a bonus based on year-over-year sales growth targets set by your manager. When you exceed these targets, you and your team will enjoy extra bonuses!
Location: You'll mainly work in one shop, but sometimes you might need to help out in other stores or travel for training sessions, meetings, or events. Working from home isn't an option.
Hours: Your weekly hours will be set by your Manager, based on what the business needs are and your availability. If there are big changes in your availability or the business's needs, your contract hours might be adjusted. Shifts will be scheduled in coordination with the store Manager, considering business demands and busy times of the year. Extra shifts, when available, will be shared fairly among the team throughout the year.
The Shop Floor
As a Sales Assistant, you'll help create a welcoming and vibrant shop floor that excites customers. Your role is all about delivering fantastic customer service through product demonstrations and providing samples. Using your product knowledge and great customer service skills, you'll make sure every visitor to your shop leaves with a smile.
Greet customers warmly as they enter the store, making them feel welcome and valued right away. Engage with customers by asking open-ended questions to understand their needs and preferences. Listen carefully and provide personalised recommendations based on what they tell you.
Know your products inside and out, including ingredients, benefits, and how to use them. Be ready to explain why each product is great and how it can help the customer. You should be demonstrating products in every consultation, right on the customers' skin, showing how to use them effectively.
You'll be an excellent party host, helping our extra-special customers celebrate their big day, giving them an above-and-beyond experience in store. You'll make this fun, you will create an inclusive environment, something they'll take away and remember Lush by for years to come.
Give out samples tailored to the customer's needs, explaining how to use them for the best results. Build a rapport with regular customers by remembering their preferences and past purchases. Follow up with them to see how they liked previous products and suggest new items they might enjoy.
You'll help keep the shop floor clean, tidy, and visually appealing, ensuring products are displayed according to guidelines. As seasons and sales trends change, you'll assist in adjusting displays to maximise product visibility and sales. You'll work with the store manager to uphold high standards and keep the shop looking its best.
Supporting and Growing the Business
As a Sales Assistant, you'll help drive sales and achieve targets set by your Manager. You'll think of creative ways to engage customers and promote products, working alongside your team to exceed targets.
You'll support business growth by working on in-store and external events. You'll help host events that leave customers with a lasting impression of the business, and encourage them to come back to visit your shop.
As you'll be on the shop floor every day, you'll be aware of the costs that it takes to run a Lush store, like wasting products, and you'll actively aim to control these spends in line with your shop's budget.
You'll support effective stock management by ensuring shelves are well-stocked with quality products, avoiding overstocking. You'll react to current sales trends, and notice what customers are loving, by adjusting stock levels to maximise sales and profit.
Your Team
As a Sales Assistant, you'll work alongside your team to achieve your collective goals. On the shop floor, you'll communicate with your team to ensure everyone is aware of each customers' needs - ensuring the best customer experience possible. You'll work to foster an inclusive and respectful working environment - where you'll be open to hearing other ideas and feedback, taking them on board to grow as a collective.
Your Development
As a Sales Assistant, you're encouraged to share ideas to enhance the customer experience and shop floor dynamics. You'll receive coaching and support from the management team in your shop, and you'll get training in store - both in the form of sessions, and small bites of learning on the shop floor during opening hours. You'll participate in central training sessions and bring key messages back to the shop floor. Where you feel there's a gap in your knowledge, you're expected to identify this, and work with the management team in your shop to fill in those gaps.
