Full Job Description
We are looking for a Scientific Equipment Co-ordination Team Supervisor to join the team located at one of our client sites; to manage, organize and implement day-to-day equipment co-ordination activities The role provides first line supervision of a team of coordinators, delivering high quality service activities related to scientific equipment repair and maintenance, equipment/lab reviews for new equipment installation and highly customer focused service delivery.,
- Direct day-to-day line management of PerkinElmer onsite Scientific Equipment Co-ordination team. Ensuring appropriate resources available to deliver our contracted services in a safe and compliant manner. Manage support cover for team absences.
- First point of escalation for issues within the teams' sphere of control, escalating issues to the Vendor Operations Manager when required. Focal point for all on-site team activities related to scientific equipment.
- Ensure prompt, flexible, customer focused equipment support whilst maintaining compliance with statutory, safety (QSHE) and engineering standards. Includes ensuring team observes adherence to safe ways of working and provision/review of RAMS for external engineers.
- Monitor the performance of the scientific equipment and systems using Key Performance Indicators to ensure operational scope delivery, enable maximum equipment availability and utilisation, instigate improvements and influence changes.
- Maintains open communication channels with the client and PerkinElmer management team with respect to service delivery, progress, initiatives, and incidents.
- Support and triage FM Change Control process, by allocating team members to act as either Technical Assessor or Commissioning Manager, when required.
- Support AZ CMS process by triaging and performing FM site assessments for new CAPEX equipment purchases, when appropriate.
- Assist both AZ and PerkinElmer in the preparation for audits and in the retrieval of relevant documentation for inspection purposes.
- Attend client meetings to review on-going performance and actively seek out opportunities for cost savings and continual improvement. Develop and positively maintain client relationships.
- Develop knowledge of equipment assets and science, to enable understanding of current and new technologies utilised by AZ.
- Support the development and team adoption of new working practices, procedures and technology.
- Responsible for the performance management of the onsite Scientific Equipment Co-ordination team in line with PerkinElmer policies and procedures. Establish and coordinate goal setting and performance reviews for direct reports, ensuring alignment across the account. Ensure all team mandatory training (client and PerkinElmer) is complete and up to date.
- Supports team development and identification of associated training requirements.
- Interface with other supply partners as required.
- Ensure all compliant documentation are stored and filed according to AZ/PerkinElmer quality practices.
- Support Vendor Operations Manager with all aspects of scoped operational delivery.
- Acts as an ambassador to PerkinElmer, ensuring a first-class service is delivered at all times.
- Performs other duties including general SEC activities relating to vendor hosting, site inspections, asset sweeps, client engagement and maintaining asset data integrity
Very strong relationship management and excellent communication skills/influencing skills. - Ability to work to own initiative but team orientated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to break down and solve complex problems in a logical and structured approach.
- Knowledge and understanding of EHS procedures
- Experience of working in a fast paced, operational environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High customer focus. Basic Qualifications:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in relevant discipline. OR
- 5+ years' experience within the Laboratory Instrument Support sector.
- PC literate in Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc). Working Environment:
- Role is site based on a customer site.
- Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.
- Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
- The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite
- Frequently operating around instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.
- Operates a computer
