Full Job Description

Why here, Why now? Team SUA are in an exciting phase of its development, having secured a 'Good' judgment in all areas in our most recent Ofsted inspection in October 2023, we continue to go from strength to strength and we are now oversubscribed in Year 7 and Year 8. This growth has created the opportunity to expand our dedicated and passionate team, who are all committed to our mission of positively impacting the lives of children in our community. Our core values to Aspire, Believe, Achieve are upheld by a brilliant team of colleagues all striving to get the very best for our students. We continue to drive ambition and aspirations into the hearts and minds of all our learners. We are an evidence-informed academy and each year every member of the team completed a research project that supports our continued improvement. Our annual showcase is a celebration of the work colleagues have undertaken; we thrive on sharing the very best practice. We also have brilliant wellbeing offer including protected development time, teaching and learning mornings/afternoons dedicated to staff development, as well as initiatives such as meeting-free wellbeing weeks and free toast at break time! We are currently looking to recruit a second in science to join our experienced and supportive team. Classes are taught in mixed ability groups and we scaffold learning to ensure the best outcomes for everyone. This post would suit either an experienced science teacher or a colleague who may be looking for their first steps into subject leadership. Features of teaching at SUA:

  • Staff have a teach to the top mentality where scaffolding supports those learners who need it, but the aspirations are never lowered.
  • Our far-reaching curriculum is exciting and places our staff's expertise and creativity at its centre.
  • Staff are trusted to make careful curriculum decisions which prioritise sequencing, key concepts and core and substantive knowledge.
  • Staff know that high quality teaching is the ticket to high student success!
  • No graded observations: regular developmental feedback and a focus on constant improvement is the norm at SUA!
  • All colleagues (teaching and non-teaching) complete a year-long evidence-informed research project.
  • Our appraisal system is driven by research and typicality, not data and bureaucracy.
  • We regularly focus on high quality, purposeful and responsive CPD.
  • Our focus on live-marking and whole class feedback has significantly improved teacher workload and improved wellbeing.
  • Benefits of being a member of team SUA include:
  • Joining a forward-thinking, well-aligned team.
  • Plenty of opportunities to share best practice and celebrate success.
  • Access to a vibrant wellbeing offer alongside our half termly wellbeing weeks.
  • Opportunities for further development via our sponsor Staffordshire University, in completing your MA in Education.
  • A supportive open-door policy from leaders at all levels.
  • An academy day that is built around student and staff wellbeing where lessons end at 2.30pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
  • For more information and to download an application pack please visit our website: www.suacademy.co.uk or email: vacancies@suacademy.co.uk to request an application pack. Alternatively contact Mrs Julie Richardson on . Closing date for applications is 14th October 2024
