Full Job Description
Following the retirement of the existing postholder, we are seeking to appoint a new colleague to undertake the role of Secretary at the school, starting as soon as possible, subject to the necessary employment checks and any notice period required by the successful applicant. The successful candidate will work for 22.5 hours a week, working afternoons, alongside another Secretary at the school who works 25 hours a week, to ensure that between them secretarial support is available throughout the school day. Working in a refurbished open plan office behind our main reception, we have a dedicated secretarial team, to assist staff and pupils by undertaking a wide variety of secretarial and administrative tasks, details of which are included in the information sheet about this role available from our school website.
You will need excellent computer skills and be a competent user of Microsoft Word (especially the use of mail merge) and Outlook. Experience of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint would be an advantage. Previous experience of working in a school environment and the use of Bromcom (school specific administration software), or similar, would be an advantage, but not essential, as training on Bromcom can be provided as necessary. A good level of literacy and a professional telephone manner will be essential for this post, as well as the ability to prioritise your work and meet deadlines.
The hours for this post are 12.00pm - 4:30pm Monday - Friday with no lunch break, giving a total of 22.5 hours per week. The post is term time plus one week for Inset Days. The post is Grade 5 (point range 11-14) with an actual salary between £14,247 and £14,955 per annum, depending on experience, based on 44.8 weeks per year, which includes 5.8 weeks paid holiday.
