Here at Balfour Beatty, our work inspires communities and advances society. Our commitment to sustainability looks even further generations further. Join our Regional Civils team as a Section Engineer on our South Wokingham Distributor Road Project where you'll be part of our legacy.

As a Section Engineer you will support the overall implementation of the engineering strategy and framework for this exciting new highways project.

What you'll be doing

As a Section Engineer you will:

  • Produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments and undertakes periodic reviews

  • Prepare and raise Temporary Works Briefs, following up to ensure timely implementation

  • Carry out complex setting out when required

  • Produce Activity Control Plans / Inspection and Test Plans and obtains approval;

  • Actively uses the Specification for reference and coaches junior team members in using the Spec

  • Ensure that Site Engineers complete the required quality check sheets on a timely basis for the works

  • Produce a weekly programme and measures progress against KPIs

  • Communicate weekly programme and targets to the workforce

  • Liaises with subcontractors to ensure works undertaken in line with weekly programme.

  • Maintain accurate diary, including dialogue with external subcontractors., Day in, day out, our teams deliver amazing projects in challenging conditions; developing, managing and maintaining the vital infrastructure and public spaces that modern economies, societies and communities rely on.

    You will have the following:

  • BSc/HND in Civil Engineering

  • Experience of working on a NEC Civil Engineering project

  • Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Suggests improvements to systems

  • Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card. SSSTS or SMSTS qualified

  • Must be a strong team player, with developed communication skills.
