Full Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our Automated Section Manager team. You should be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience of Biochemistry alongside accreditation, clinical governance, leadership, and training. The department has IBMS training approval for support staff through to state registration and for specialist portfolios. Our laboratories are undergoing a major instrument refresh with Siemens Atellica analysers connected to the very latest Inpeco FlexLab X track solution. This state-of-the-art solution is the first to be deployed within the UK and helps deliver a true Blood Sciences total laboratory automation solution. With over 12 million tests analysed per year; a repertoire of over 100 different chemistries and referral work for multiple other trusts the Automated Section is a fast-paced dynamic section. You must be enthusiastic and well motivated to support our team in providing a high-quality service and driving continuous improvement.

  • To manage and coordinate, in conjunction with other section managers, the day-to-day activities of the automation section
  • Participate in all technical work activities
  • Analyse and interpret results
  • Work with training officer in the identification and delivery of training needs to all staff
  • To deputise for Biochemistry managers when required
