Full Job Description
The Security Control Room Operator is responsible for working under the direction of the Control Room Supervisor. Their main role is to protect the Bank from any internal or external physical security threats and respond to any infrastructure failures in partnership with others. They will work on a rotational shift covering duties 24/7. The primary focus of this role is the oversight of IDS and CCTV systems and undertaking communication activity. This requires building Bank knowledge, specific to the departments and business areas that Security support. Responsible for making security decisions based on standard operating procedures and where necessary, with support from senior colleagues. Occasionally the Control Room Operator will direct contractor staff. Role description The control room team may encounter various threats to the Bank, including but not restricted to terrorism, suspicious vehicles, protests, explosive devices, crime demonstrations, suspicious activity and criminal activity. In addition to the above, the team will respond to fires, floods, emergency situations, crime, first aid, alarms, or breaches. All the above requires good problem-solving skills, quick thinking, planning and resourcing in response to resolving situations. The Security Control Room Operator will require a good level of concentration, coordinating non-security Bank resources, liaison with external emergency services and remaining calm under pressure. They also require good communication skills and effective report writing capabilities for recording follow-up actions and investigations under direction and with support from others. - Conducting Control Room security tasks in line with standard operating procedures - 95%
- Participating in training, development and exercising activity - 5% You will be required to work shifts which is predominantly a 3 on / 3 off rotation, but with two additional training days per month. This is a combination of early, late and night shifts on a rotation system. - Prior experience working in a position within the Security Industry or in a high security site.
- Detailed experience using industry security systems such as CCTV, alarm and Fire systems.
- Good customer focus and service.
- Excellent resource planning and delivery.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Flexibility is a must quality for this role.
- A professional demeanour with sound judgement and integrity.
- Responsible for personal and career development of team members.
- Ability to deal with security incidents effectively and escalate when appropriate., A valid security qualification, SIA Licence or any additional equivalent qualifications.
- Experience in delivering a personal and professional customer experience would be advantageous.
- Experience of working within a similar role would be beneficial.
The Security Operations team are part of the Security Division. The main priority of the team is to ensure safety and security to all staff, tenants and visitors, protection of the building, its assets and information. The Security Operations team are structured to allow flexibility within the teams to train, test and exercise without impacting daily duties.
