Full Job Description
As a security engineer, your day-to-day tasks will vary - we will expose you to all aspects of our work so you can develop a good all-round understanding of security engineering. However, with a primary focus on technical design, the role will include:
- Assisting with client and stakeholder engagement in order to establish project security requirements.
- Developing threat and risk assessments and identifying associated security operational requirements that underpin the development of the technical security designs.
- Developing physical and electronic security solutions aligned to approved security strategies. This will include the production of technical specifications, engineering drawings, and stage-specific reports.
- Set up and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure (adjusting these as necessary)
- Liaising with wider design teams to coordinate security requirements of projects.
- Attending client meetings as part of our delivery teams.
- Proactively participating as part of the Hoare Lea security engineering team in developing approaches to project delivery to support continued team growth. Hoare Lea has a strong culture of staff development and training, and we will actively support and encourage you to develop professionally.
- An expected or achieved 2.1 degree in engineering or similar (a masters or other relevant post graduate qualification is an advantage).
- A good working knowledge of engineering drawing and modelling tools such as CAD and REVIT.
- An understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work.
- Previous experience in a role within the built environment would be preferable (eg previous employment, work placement or work experience).
- A technical understanding of electronic security systems would be preferable.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment with tight deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Able to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) before appointment and National Security Vetting at, as a minimum, SC level when in post.
