Full Job Description

To fully contribute to day-to-day security from the University's operational security, and occasionally, our reception teams. Ensuring that you provide a professional, efficient, and approachable security and reception service, and always deliver high standards of customer service to our students, staff, and visitors.

Work with supervision and management to achieve the Universities goals and objectives.

Use your previous skills and experience to enhance the department, and bring further knowledge, new ideas and 'best practice' to the team.

Strive to ensure the safety and security of all University users and protect it's assets and interests.

Provide friendly, efficient, and effective front-line assistance to students, staff, and visitors, upholding high standards of customer service and being an ambassador for the University.

Undertake various security duties as directed, including internal and external duties, including acting in emergency situations and undertaking roles associated with those of a 'first responder' on occasions.

Operate and monitor CCTV and other security-related systems including alarm systems.

Maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained with the course of your duty, in line with the Data Protection Act/GDPR, a person's right to privacy, and the Human Rights Act.

Deal with, and report, any issues of concern which may be Health and Safety related.

Maintain high level of competency and legislative compliance via regular mandatory training.

Have experience of working in a role or environment with transferable skills, or previous security roles.

Be educated to GCSE Level 'C' or equivalent, particularly in English Language

Hold a Security Industry (SIA) 'Security Guarding' and/or 'Door Supervision' licence or will be competent enough to be able to do so within three months of commencing the role, in line with the probationary requirements (Any renewal and training will be paid by the University after probationary period completion)

Be able to demonstrate skills outlined within the 'Person Specification' section of the aligned Job Description.

Be able to comply with the requirements outlined within the 'Special Requirements' and 'Expectations of all Staff' sections of the aligned Job Description.
