Full Job Description

The post holder will work towards becoming a member of the established security team to provide a security service, to the Trust, that is highly visible, patient focused and professional at all times with the overarching goals of creating a safe, secure and crime free environment for all patients, staff, visitors, and the public.

You will be undergoing a learning program of 18 months and implementing the knowledge and experience gained across the Trust; therefore it is essential to be flexible with location, working times and travel.

This role will be developing towards becoming a fully trained and experienced security officer within the healthcare setting and will form part of Barts Health Security Response Team.

The role will have a requirement for the ability to attend any of the five Barts Health

NHS Trust sites, Inc. Royal London Hospital, St Barts, Mile End, Whipps Cross, and

Newham Hospitals or associated Barts Properties. This means that flexibility is an

essential part of the officer main duties.

In addition, as this role is an apprenticeship position, the successful candidate will be undergoing an educational and development programs to achieve desirable level of expertise and competencies.

· Occasional moderate lifting

· Frequent requirement for controlled restraint for several short

· periods

· Patrolling of site and the ability to access all areas of the site, · Exposure to difficult customers, patients, and relatives often in emotional circumstances

Working Conditions

· Site based at any of the designated five Hospital sites, or Barts Health NHS Trust Properties, as required

· Frequent working outdoors

· Regular exposure to physical/verbal aggression

· Requirement to use Visual Display Unit equipment continuously most days.

Mental

· Ability to remain alert and calm throughout the shift

· Have a basic level of problem solving and multi-tasking capability

· Will be frequently interrupted due to the changing nature of the role.

Person Specification

· Relevant Experience Working in a multicultural and diverse environment

· Ability to work on own initiative and problem solve operational issues

· Knowledge of Security and reception industry protocols

Skills

· Good verbal and written skills

· Good interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer/ patient focused delivery

Qualifications

· Front Line SIA Licence holder desirable

Apprenticeship specific

· Have lived in the UK/EU for 3 years
