Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a teacher with experience of working successfully in a SEN school environment who can provide positive and stimulating learning experiences for our students whilst working in partnership with families and the school community. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of teaching students with additional needs, strong organisation skills, highly structured approach that supports their ability to teach a range of subjects to our students and work collaboratively. The school provides a person-centred curriculum, adapted to each child and young person's developmental and learning needs, offering a variety of educational programs designed to meet the needs of students with severe to complex learning needs, Autism, communication and sensory processing difficulties, and associated behaviours. Bringing their experience of practical, experiential and therapeutic education strategies to bear, the successful candidate will ensure that our students engage in learning and develop the relevant skills they need to progress. There is an opportunity for the suitable candidate to lead Numeracy as part of the school's Middle Leadership Team. We are looking for a candidate who will take the lead to plan, co-ordinate and monitor standards in their given subject area to ensure that the subject is consistently well planned throughout the school, paying special attention to the structure and implementation of the learning experience. In order to be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have attained Qualified Teaching Status.
  • Have experience of the National Curriculum framework.
  • Have experience of working with young people with a range of learning needs and destination aims, and developing appropriate strategies to help them achieve their goals.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with a practical approach to engaging pupils.
  • Have experience of working with children/young people with special educational needs and learning disabilities.
  • Have experience preparing students for examinations and assessments.
  • Have experience of co-ordinating, leading and quality assuring your subject area of Numeracy as subject leader.
