Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our multidisciplinary SEN Therapies team who work as part of the Education and SEND directorate. The team work collaboratively with our SEND Operations and Casework teams supporting the Education Health and Needs Assessment, Placement and Tribunal teams. We also work closely with SEN Support and Inclusion teams and SEND Education colleagues.

We work in a range of SEND and education contexts with other KCC services as well as colleagues in social care and our NHS partners in health. Your role will be pivotal in the success of the implementation of The Balanced System® for speech, language and communication needs in Kent working collaboratively with our current leads and our NHS partners.

You will have an Occupational Therapy degree qualification or equivalent and relevant post graduate clinical and leadership training and experience. You will be registered with the HCPC. We are looking for a health professional with extensive SEND knowledge. You may have experience of working within multidisciplinary and/or educational contexts. Your role will involve enabling the workforce and families, improving outcomes for children with complex SEND. This is a consultative role., The role is available for immediate start or as soon as possible. Interviews will be held on 23^rd January 2025 in Ashford.

The role requires you to work in a team base, currently in Ashford, at least and not limited to 2 days a week. There will be some additional travel within Kent to attend meetings and the post holder must be able to travel to locations within Kent in a reasonable time.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
