Full Job Description
We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Northwood. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school., We are looking for a tutor to support a 20 year old young woman in Northwood. Our pupil has autism and can find it difficult to read and understand social cues which make social interactions challenging for her. She also has social, emotional and mental health needs - a tutor who has had experience working with SEMH would be essential to help her develop her confidence with self-identity and support with anxiety.
A tutor who can also guide her with exploring career paths would be a great bonus, as our pupil would like to explore careers in teaching or psychology in the future. She is an avid reader, likes to write and values her time with her family and friends. Our pupil is an intelligent young woman who has made great progress in her academics, particularly with creative writing and reading; she needs more support with numeracy however. We would love to find someone who can support our pupil with her mental health needs and help her succeed in her academics.
If you think this is not the right role for you, do still apply as we are always on the lookout for people with different expertise to work with our pupils in various locations.
You'll have some experience with SEN: SEMH, ASD
You'll have experience helping pupil progress in their academic learning
You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
You'll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
You'll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan
Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
Use a person-centred approach in their work
Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
