Full Job Description

  • Guidance - You'll provide expert, impartial and objective advice through various channels, ensuring children, young people and their families are informed about their rights and choices
  • Support - Each case is unique. You'll focus on outcome-driven casework, helping our children, young people and their families express their views effectively
  • Collaboration - You'll build partnerships with local forums for parents and young people, working together to shape policies and practices in the local area. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that the voices of those with SEND are heard
  • Knowledge sharing - Sharing knowledge is key to progress
  • Resolution - In cases of disagreements, you'll step in as a mediator, working towards resolutions between young people, parents, carers, and relevant agencies

    Willingness to complete IPSEA (Independent Parental Special Education Advice) levels 1, 2 and 3 as part of your professional development through on the job training
  • Evidence of working in Tribunal or a legal framework, with experience of complex case management
  • Evidence of embedding restorative and relational practice into every aspect of your working day
  • Excellent advocacy skills with the ability to deal sensitively with challenging conversations
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable families with children
  • Successful record of partnership working
  • Willingness to work in the community to foster relationships with Surrey's families

    The starting salary for this full-time, permanent position is £32,512 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.
  • This role is open to hybrid working and as a team we split our time between working from home and collaborating together in the office two days per week. We're looking for a committed and passionate SEND Advisor to join our team and make a meaningful impact! As a vital part of our team, you'll be at the forefront of creating positive change for children, young people and their families; crucially, yours will be the voice that empowers them to confidently navigate the world of SEND.
