Full Job Description

As a SEND Casework Officer your role will be to undertake SEND casework management for children and young people who have special educational needs. You will be responsible for ensuring all casework is carried out to the highest standards and fully meets the Local Authority statutory functions in terms of quality and timescales. This in turn will ensure that children and young people achieve their best possible outcomes.

Your excellent communication and customer care skills will be essential to ensuring close partnership working with parents, children and young people, including schools, settings and all professionals involved in supporting this work.
You will ensure that all assessments for children and young people take place and that initial Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs) are finalised in line with statutory timeframes. You will be responsible for ensuring that the reviews of EHCPs take place annually and at the right time and you will attend annual reviews as and when appropriate. You will also help shape the journey of the young person as they prepare for adulthood.
