Full Job Description

Northamptonshire Adult Learning Service is recruiting for this newly formed position following a restructure. Northamptonshire Adult Learning Service currently provides learning opportunities for young people within North Northamptonshire and to Adult Learners across both North Northamptonshire and West Northamptonshire. The SENDCO will be working closely with learners, teaching staff, parents and external agencies to develop and implement effective strategies and support systems to enable excellent support for our learners which reflects statutory frameworks and guidance. Flexible working is supported, with responsibilities across Northamptonshire and a current focus on provision for young people in Kettering and Wellingborough.What will you be doing? Key responsibilities of the position include the following (please see the job description for the full list) Developing and implementing the SEND policy, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines. Overseeing the identification and assessment of students with SEND, ensuring that appropriate screening and assessment tools are utilised. Keeping up to date with and disseminating relevant information to the wider service as appropriate on current SEND policy, best practice and legislation. Provide training and support to teaching staff on topics related to SEND, including strategies for differentiation, behaviour management, and inclusive teaching practices. To lead on EHCP reviews and communication. To act as deputy designated safeguarding lead. Line manage the Learning Support and SEND Practitioners and other Learning Support Assistants, including specialist support staff (e.g. BSL support), to include staff recruitment, induction process, performance, and review plus timetabling in accordance with service policies and procedures.

We are looking for an experienced SENDCO or qualified teacher with experience of working with learners with Special Education Needs or Disabilities with a flexible approach and a learner centred attitude.
