We actively, offer opportunities for professional and personal development.Detailed job description and main responsibilities Initiate assessments and develop specific therapeutic play programmes demonstrating knowledge and expertise in the development and psychological needs of the hospitalised child. Work with the multi-disciplinary team offering support and advice to parents about meeting their child need's. Promote the development of the play service making contact across other clinical areas. Contribute to the management of the play specialist team taking on delegated responsibilities as required. Maintain a professional portfolio and registration.

This is a Band 5 post opportunity is to cover ENT/Plastics, Oral Maxilo facial Outpatients department. The Band 5 roles will take on additional responsibilities and training to help with the day to day management and support of the Play Team manager. We are an already established and experienced play team who promotes the play service in the Children's Hospital and the Trust. Do you have some expertise in this area ? Have a keen interest to learn new skills and the motivation to grasp opportunities. We need someone who is pro-active and will help to support the play team and the service. You would be part of an experienced team, all working together, sharing expertise and benefiting from professional development opportunities. We are looking for someone who is committed, caring and compassionate to join this great team. For this post we require:

  • The professional Diploma on Specialised Play for Sick Children and Young People or equivalent
  • You must be a registered Health Play Specialist with HPSET
  • At least 3 years post qualifying experience, FdA Healthcare Play Specialism/ Professional Diploma in Specialised Play for Sick Children and Young People or equivalent.
  • HPSET Certificate and up-to-date registration.
  • Desirable criteria
  • Counselling skills
  • Child Psychology
  • Management skills, Experienced Health Play Specialist
  • Confident in working with children, adolescents and children with special needs including those with challenging behaviour
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development
  • Desirable criteria
  • 3 years post registration experience in a range of clinical settings
  • Supervision of junior staff and students
  • Experience of managing a small budget
