Full Job Description

Gloucestershire is making excellent headway in realising our vision to establish a diverse range of local children's homes. We are well underway with recruiting our workforce and now is the right time to seek an experienced and passionate administrator to join the team., We are recruiting for a senior administrator on 25 hours a week, working 5 hours each day with some home working and some from our sites. The role will work with our registered managers across all 3 homes to ensure we are compliant with business processes, have the right resources we need, supporting our electronic recording system and providing a responsive and proactive administrative service to the team., Gloucestershire's vision is 'Working together to support families and communities to give every child the best chance of a happy and rewarding life, especially those who need more help.' Implementation of our ambitious improvement and transformation plans are creating the optimum conditions within which our staff can make a real difference and improve outcomes for children. The investment we've committed into our in-house residential strategy demonstrates our commitment to getting this right for our children and young people., All our homes will offer a service to those children and young people for whom residential care is a placement of choice and assessed to be the most appropriate resource to enable them to fulfil their potential. We're committed to working with our statutory partners as part of a trauma-informed, integrated approach which focuses holistically on what needs to change in order to achieve timely permanence., As a senior administrator you will have support from our Business Support Service with training and development pathways to help enhance and grow in your profession.

If you are an experienced administrator and are committed to improving outcomes for children and young people in care, Gloucestershire would like to hear from you. We're particularly interested in hearing from anyone with experience of working in a setting directly with children and young people as this role will have some direct contact. For this reason, the role is subject to a DBS check. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate a flexible approach with an ability to manage your workload to meet deadlines., We want to be an employer of choice, attracting and retaining excellent people to work for us, so that we can best serve all of Gloucestershire's diverse communities. Our promise to you is that we will provide an inclusive and supportive working environment that enables you to bring your whole self to work and realise your full potential. It is a legal requirement, under the Immigration Act 2016, that anyone appointed to a 'customer facing role' must be able to demonstrate an ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English. Hybrid working arrangements are available for the majority of our roles, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice, with a mix of both remote and office working.

Within our first phase we are opening one children's home which caters for younger children who need a period of intense support, with a view to enabling them to return to a family setting, whether that be foster care or back home. In addition, we recognise some young people need longer term residential care so, as part of our Sufficiency Strategy, our second home aims to provide this provision, with semi-independent facilities on site and integral to the offer. Our third home will also cater for children and young people who require a period of intense support in a children's home, with a view to supporting them back into a family setting. However, the target group for this home will be slightly older and complement the service provided by our first home.

For all your hard work, you will receive the following:

  • 25.5 days annual leave rising to 30.5 days after 5 years continuous service (pro rata)
  • option to purchase 10 days of additional leave per year (pro rata)
  • family friendly policies and benefits to help support you and your family
  • supportive and positive working environment with regular, robust supervision
  • Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
  • access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) that provides free, confidential, counselling and advice for employees, available 24 hours a day, online and by telephone
  • an in-house Occupational Health service
  • employee discount scheme
  • cycle to work scheme
  • links to employee networks such as Prism (LGBT+) and the Young Employees Network
  • career development and qualification opportunities
