Senior Advanced Surgical Care Practitioner

We are looking for a Senior Advanced Surgical Care Practitioner (in the speciality of Trauma and Orthopaedics) who holds the MSc in SCP (applicants who have completed 120 credits at level 7 SCP will be considered where Annex 21 would be applied) This role will require the SCP to working against the 4 pillars of advanced practice: Clinical - Extensive theatre experience of major orthopaedic procedures. Autonomous Clinical management of orthopaedic patients in the ward area/theatre and out -patient settings. Education - delivery of education to MDT. Support mentorship to multi professional trainees. Responsible for own development and education needs. Maintain live portfolio of evidence around AP in the context of surgical care practice. Research - carry out Audit/QI/service evaluation/ research in relation to practice. Leadership - lead on service change, contribute to key HB strategy development groups. Management of SCP team.

We are looking for highly motivated and experienced Senior Advanced Surgical Care Practitioner to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic team. The candidate must have completed a MSc in Surgical Care Practice. Candidates who have not completed a full MSc, but achieved 120 credits at level 7 of SCP, will be considered where Annex 21 would be applied. This will be applied until the post holder has achieved a further 60 credits at level 7 in a relevant topic. This will be supported by a development plan for 12 months. During the first 12 months payment will be 75% of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate. Following successful completion of the required credits at level 7 the post holder will then be paid at the full band 8a (following the usual pay steps). They will be expected to work autonomously making higher level clinical decisions for patients in theatre, ward based areas, clinic and out- patient settings. The post holder will work within the context of a MDT and will need to demonstrate robust leadership and management skills in the context of the role. Research and the delivery of education to a multi-professional audience will also be an expected part of the role. We welcome applicants from Nursing, ODP and AHP backgrounds.
