Full Job Description

ILD is a crucial enabler for the Agency to deliver its core function and for ID&A to fulfil its mission to unleash innovation in a responsible way. The ILD team encompasses an information law and disclosure advice service as well as specialist data sharing and Data Protection Impact Assessment coordination. As a Senior Advisor, you will use your expertise to manage the delivery of the responsive enquiry service that supports internal and external stakeholders to deliver their work on key transformations. You will proactively engage with the Agency to provide the support and advice necessary to ensure that decisions are taken in line with the VOA's duty of confidentiality in the Commissioners for Revenue and Customs Act (CRCA) 2005, UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act.,

  • You will manage the delivery of a demanding business as usual service to support ad hoc queries from the business on information law and disclosure, data sharing, and wider information law requirements.
  • Responsible for developing the skills and awareness of information law and disclosure in the Agency to enable responsible innovation in line with CRCA, UK GDPR, Data Protection Act and Copyright.
  • Manage your team to provide an effective and flexible service that meets demand for both ad hoc requests and support for long-term projects.
  • Provide an excellent and engaging customer experience, building excellent relationships with your stakeholders to embed compliance with information legislation in the Agency.
  • Horizon scanning to support future changes to information that may impact on the service and Agency.
  • Supporting the delivery of a strategic and innovative direction for the ILD service, contributing to briefings and papers for senior stakeholders.
  • Identifying and raising risks for the Agency by ensuring Data Protection Impact Assessments are reviewed and assessed efficiently.
  • Working flexibly across the team and if necessary, the wider directorate to provide delegated support for the Head of Data Strategy, Management and Disclosure and colleagues in the delivery of other projects and pieces of work through the provision of advice and information law expertise.
  • Provide support with disclosure and information law queries on complex longer running projects, such as information tribunal support and changes to regulations and legislation as they arise.
  • Being a proactive member of the wider information rights community across Government, to represent the VOA externally.
