Full Job Description

This Senior Agent will report to the Operations Manager and will work within Network Operations based in our London Pratt Street office. You will be a permanent employee in our Powercare team., Job Purpose: The Senior Agent will be responsible to the Groundworks Operations Manager for delivering excavation and reinstatement activities associated with distribution faults, small service and small works, Unmetered Connections distribution capital programme work within the UK Power Networks EPN Distribution Licence areas.,

  • Deliver works to completion to time, quality, cost, and maintaining the highest levels of safety and environmental management.
  • Produce delivery plans and ensure provision of direct/contract resources, materials and services to ensure that project programmes are maintained.
  • Manage commercial arrangements with contractors to ensure that contractual arrangements are met and that cost controls are in place.
  • Provide monthly reports including achievement, costs and forecasts.
  • Communicate with important partners, internal and external, to ensure that projects are managed from creation to completion.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out to provide very high levels of Customer Service e.g. minimise defects, NRSWA fines and penalties.
  • Ensure that all workers engaged in the project are aware of all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Ensure quality of works meets with current procedures
  • To accomplish risk assessments and maintain safe working practices
  • Ensure works are carried out to meet guaranteed service standards
  • Be prepared to undertake other reasonable responsibilities following the requirements of the Company
  • Be an ambassador for UK Power Networks and deliver excellent customer service, The Groundworks Senior Agent will ensure that main functions of overall project delivery are in place. These include scopes of work, procurement processes, resource planning (materials and people), transport, tools and plant, project delivery, reporting and review.
  • The Senior Agent will report to the Operations Manager and will work within the London Region, although there may be some requirement to work across regions to obtain best practice. The Senior Agent will have a but is required to support the team requirements and may therefore have priorities reassigned by the Operations Manager.
  • The Senior Agent's role is about achieving delivery of work in a safe, efficient and cost-effective way. You will require management of the project to ensure value for money and compliance with current legislation.
  • You will required to travel anywhere within the EPN, SPN and LPN Footprint of UK Power Networks and be willing to participate in an out of hours standby rota.

Similarly where work activities can have an adverse impact upon the environment, and where there are legal requirements, employees will understand those impacts and the controls they must ensure are applied. Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used.

  • A Streetworks Supervisors qualification is important.
  • The applicant must have experience in managing operational ground works teams, associated with electrical utilities.
  • A safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely will be required as will experience working with the CDM regulations and ISO9001 quality processes.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • CSCS Supervisors card
  • Emergency First Aid
  • The following skills are not essential for the role but would be advantageous
  • Trench Support (deep excavation) certificate
  • A formal Project Management qualification
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project, the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, word and access) and project management techniques.


  • You will attract a salary of £52,332 per annum and a bonus of 1%.
