Full Job Description

  • Manages and executes Application and Innovation projects to support the sales growth of Brenntag Nutrition in UK and Ireland.

  • Ensures our Application and Innovation Centre is the local showcase of Brenntag Nutrition capabilities and a knowledge hub for our team, suppliers and customers.


  • Scope of Responsibilities:
  • Manages a strong pipeline of projects supporting the development of our Nutrition business in the UK and Ireland.

  • Projects include ingredient testing, formulation optimisation, trouble-shooting and innovative concept development.

  • Keeps a constant focus on all aspects of occupational and food safety for all activities taking place in the Application and Innovation centre.

  • Ensures that our Application and Innovation centre has state of the art equipment, in line with current industry standards and as planned in the CAPEX plan.

  • Supports Technical Sales Managers by providing technical assistance, formulation support and ad-hoc training.

  • Assists Technical Sales Managers with the planning and delivery of customer presentations either on site or off site at customer own premises.

  • Fosters the Innovation mind-set of the team by providing hands-on market trend monitoring, pro-active concept development and collaborative projects with Food Universities

  • Works closely with Product Managers in establishing a strong technical relationship with our suppliers.

  • Liaise with colleagues in our EMEA Application network to share best practices participate in cross-border projects and initiatives, always within the boundaries of customer and supplier confidentiality.

  • Plans, executes and documents, using the company systems, all practical application work carried out in the Application and Innovation Centre.

    The ideal candidate will hold a Master's Degree in Food science and technology related topics and have multiple years of experience in medium to large companies operating in the food & beverage industry sector in the field of research and development., Strong practical knowledge in using functional ingredients such as emulsifiers, stabilisers, hydro-colloids, starches, fibres etc.

  • Strong application know-how, ideally in several segments of the food industry (bakery, convenience, dairy, beverages…)
