Full Job Description

Purpose of role: The Crown Estate (TCE) is committed to driving exemplar estate management in its coastal estates. As part of this refreshed role, TCE now need a proactive, strategic and inspirational leader to drive growth, and value (social, economic and financial) across this diverse estate in support of the UK's transition to net zero. Working with hundreds of existing customers this role will be central in re-defining how TCE delivers and is perceived in and by the wider coastal stakeholder community. Through providing strategic leadership in areas of: water quality, coastal and beach safety, regenerative aquaculture, key safety first programmes as well as how we collect and analyse data to provide insights, this role will lead the charge in enabling our customers to better delivery to our wider enterprise priorities, creating thriving coastal communities and a coastal brand to be proud of. The Senior Manager Coastal Estates will play a key role in the delivery of this strategy,

  • Oversee the management of Coastal projects, guiding them through to Lease and subsequently into successful lease management

  • Proactively identify and pursue new opportunities within the portfolio, staying ahead of market trends

  • Cultivate and nurture customer relationships throughout the development and asset management lifecycle, ensuring exceptional service delivery

  • Foster and manage industry-specific stakeholder relationships, leveraging collaborations to enhance project success and industry impact

  • Assets classes within the coastal portfolio for which responsibility will be held, Regulating Leases, Coastal Protection, Filming, Seaweed and Aquaculture, Wildfowling all Private Coastal infrastructure

  • Working in partnership with our managing agents to deliver on the objectives outlined within the Job Specification

  • Leading on the 'In Hand Land' Estate management excellence initiative

  • Safeguard health and safety requirements across the entire asset portfolio

  • Drive compliance and risk management, implementing measures to ensure the integrity and success of the estate

  • Develop and present compelling business cases that highlight the potential value and feasibility of projects

  • Optimize value through commercial negotiations, ensuring favourable terms for the organization while maintaining positive stakeholder relationships

  • Champion the principles of sustainability, integrating sustainable practices into project operations and decisions

    working with the wider business unit colleagues and cross enterprise, most notably Nature, Sustainability, Rural and External Affairs colleagues.. This role requires the ability to originate/maintain/establish key customer relationships both at a local and National level. Experience of Estate and or Asset Management and / or energy sector is necessary, as is the ability to cultivate effective internal and external relationships to deliver commercial outcomes.,
  • Previous people management/leadership experience

  • Demonstrated experience in estate or asset management, with a focus on the marine environment where possible

  • Willingness to build and maintain sector-specific relationships and network to support opportunity identification, diligence and execution

  • An innovative and creative approach to solving problems, with an ability to find a path which balances the diverse perspectives/ motivations of others which may be in play, and focussed on the issues that matter and which deliver our intent

  • Proven ability to prioritize assets/opportunities based on value and strategic objectives

  • Strong portfolio management skills, including reporting and performance tracking

  • Exceptional customer engagement and relationship management skills

  • Proficiency in business development and lead management

  • Adept in health and safety protocols and risk management practices

  • Knowledge of natural capital markets including compensatory habitats, voluntary Carbon credits, Biodiversity Net Gain units etc is desirable but not essential

  • Expertise in developing business cases and optimizing project value

  • Skilled in commercial negotiation and stakeholder engagement

  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability principles

  • Proficient in asset disposal and decommissioning strategies
