Working with military veterans can be challenging and we are seeking someone with strong clinical and interpersonal skills who are able to manage and respond to the dynamic needs of the team and the client group, and to ensure that provision is accessible and appropriate.
The community-based military veterans service is a well-established team that have recently experienced some changes to provide a continuum of psychological provision including NHS Talking Therapies delivered by Psychological Well-being Practitioners, a High Intensity Therapists, a Psychologist, and this Senior Assistant Psychologist post. We also work in partnership with colleagues within Op-Courage, Combat Stress and local GPs. It is therefore essential that the post holder is highly organised in order to provide timely assessments, intervention and discharge recommendations responsive to population demand., We are aspiring to ensure our workforce is representative of the diverse communities that we serve, and we are strongly committed to removing barriers to employment for candidates from under-represented groups, for example BAME, Disabled and LGBT+ communities. We are seeking a full-time Band 5 Assistant psychologist to support the provision of mental health care to military veterans with Cheshire and Merseyside (excluding the city of Liverpool). The post holder would be expected to be a key member of the team and will support the assessment, formulation, and dissemination of findings. The post holder will also be expected to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with initiative and autonomy. The Senior Assistant psychologist will support the military veterans service by working alongside colleagues from other disciplines in providing more general psychological assessments, formulations, and short-term interventions., Applicants are encouraged to apply for posts at Greater Manchester Mental Health who have direct experience of mental health, learning disability or drug and alcohol services either as a service user or a carer., If you are offered a role with us and you require sponsorship, we will check your eligibility in line with the information on the above website.
