Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two-part-time Senior Assistant Psychologist to work within our Older Adult Mental Health & Dementia Acute Psychological Service. The post holders will support qualified psychologists to deliver psychologically informed care, working collaboratively with colleagues in our inpatient mental health wards. This is a varied Assistant Psychologist role which includes data collation/synthesis to inform team formulations/Positive Behaviour Support Plans, supporting with neuropsychological assessments, undertaking audits/evaluations, contributing to teaching/training, and providing 1:1 and group psychological support to patients. We are looking for Psychology Graduates with a passion for working with older adults with mental health problems and people with Dementia, and some previous experience within this field., The post holders will support with the delivery of low-level individual and group psychological interventions. They will carry out psychological assessments (including supporting with neuro-psychological assessments), pre-group assessments, post group assessments and evaluate group outcomes. They will work as a valued member of the ward MDT, working alongside colleagues from Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychiatry and Psychology. The post holder will have access to supervision from a Qualified Clinical Psychologist and line management from a senior colleague. They will be offered training and CPD opportunities within the mental health trust.

Acute Psychology Service members are an integral part of the team, engaging in co-production with staff, as well as patients. We're keen to hear from people who can use their initiative, have a strong recovery ethos, and have an ability to be flexible, dynamic, and innovative in their approach.

The post holder will be employed by the acute mental health directorate of CWPT. There will be support, supervision and opportunities to integrate into the wider mental health service. You will be joining a thriving community of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, Assistant Psychologists and Mental Health and Well-being Practitioners, as well as supportive colleagues from the wider MDT.
