Full Job Description

This is a varied role giving you the opportunity to work within our busy dispensary team ensuring timely turnaround of medications for inpatients and discharges.
You would also have the opportunity to join our ward based teams, working at ward level to ensure our inpatients have the medication they need throughout their stay.
We try to ensure the SATO role is varied and exciting with lots of opportunities to work alongside our Governance team, support Fridge monitoring and complete spot checks to support our wards in keeping to a safe and secure standard., We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Pharmacy Dispensary Team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary as a Senior Assistant Technical Officer (SATO).
The Pharmacy Department at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary is looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual to join the team to cover 12 months maternity leave.
Working within the Pharmacy main dispensary and on the wards, the post will involve ordering and dispensing medications for in-patients and those being discharged from hospital. You must be able to work as a team member and on an individual basis.
Working Pattern is Monday to Friday 9:00 to 17:30 with weekend and Bank Holiday work as part of a rotation., You must be able to work as a team member and on an individual basis.
Previous Pharmacy experience and an NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services, or other recognised dispensing qualification is essential, together with competent IT skills and good basic education including English and Maths to GCSE level. (Progression role considered)
Full training will be given to the successful applicants.
