Senior Assistant Technical Officer (SATO)

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

The Pharmacy Department at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary is looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated individual to join the team.

Working within the Pharmacy main dispensary and on the wards, the post will involve ordering and dispensing medications for in-patients and those being discharged from hospital. You must be able to work as a team member and on an individual basis., Previous Pharmacy experience and an NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services, or other recognised dispensing qualification is essential, together with competent IT skills and good basic education including English and Maths to GCSE level. Working Pattern will be Monday 12:30 to 17:30, Wednesday and Thursday 9:00 to 17:30 with weekend and Bank Holiday work as part of a rotation.

Training Role Considered
Training role and completion of NVQ2 Pharmacy Services will be considered for applicants without the essential qualification.

Training role is paid at 70% of a Band 3 in Year 1 and 75% in year 2 (uplifted to minimum living wage), then moving to a Band 3 upon completion of NVQ2 Pharmacy Services.

This is a varied role giving you the opportunity to work within our busy dispensary team ensuring timely turnaround of medications for inpatients and discharges.

You would also have the opportunity to join our ward based teams, working at ward level to ensure our inpatients have the medication they need throughout their stay.

You must be able to work as a team member and on an individual basis.
