Full Job Description

The Engineering Assurance team within Route Services are Accountable for the planning, delivery, and management of L2 engineering assurance across the function. This includes Asset Management, Design, Maintenance, Manufacturing, and Projects across all asset disciplines. The successful applicant will play a key role by undertaking assurance as well as supporting discipline experts with their activities. The role will exercise their engineering leadership by driving engineering teams across the function to improve L1 assurance quality.

Main Responsibilities

· Your main responsibilities will include:

· Provide expert advice input and support associated with the assurance activities to facilitate the development and delivery.

· Support professional leadership for assurance management within the function / region.

· Support the setting of policy and standards, operational processes and systems associated with functional / regional assurance activities. Manage the design and delivery of programmes for the development of technical capability required within the function / region, including the competence framework and effective training materials.

· Provide the technical input to the development of the standards, specifications, and means of compliance and KPIs for the development of an effective assurance regime within the function / region, including system risks. Support analysis and risk assessment, including assessment of applications for derogations and non-compliance where the functional / regional assurance processes are able to demonstrate business improvements.

· Support the development of the functional / regional assurance strategy across the function / region and with industry partners. Liaise with product manufacturers, including external stakeholder e.g. TOC and provide input into the acceptance processes.

· Proactively research and respond to changes in the internal and external requirements and practice which impact upon the functional / regional assurance policy and standards.

· Identify opportunities for technical and business process improvement and innovation based on the development of an effective assurance strategy, developing business cases and Investment Papers where required.

· Support Engineering Verification activities through the use of the assurance management process being able to provide robust evidence throughout the development and delivery lifecycle.

· Represent the region / function externally to the industry and input to European issues as required.

· Integrate and co-ordinate activities across different engineering disciplines and contribute to the development of assurance engineers within the practice.

· Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience

· Membership of a relevant technical body

· Broad technical engineering experience

· Auditing experience

Desirable

· Management or supervisory experience

· Project or financial planning and management experience

· Knowledge of the railway industry

· Lead Auditor Qualification
