Full Job Description
This part-time Band 5 vacancy for Audiologist / Senior Audiologists has arisen within the Acute Audiology Section of Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. Applicants need to have either (a) a BSc or MSc in Audiology, (b) the PTP in Audiology or (c) have BTEC MPPM and BAAT part 1 & 2 and the grading will reflect experience together with level of responsibility, skill mix and ability. If you are newly qualified, you will gain good experience in developing your skills as an Audiologist and via training, together with an introduction to management.
The Audiology Department is a busy and energetic one, with an establishment of an Audiological Scientist/Audiology Manager, 7.5 Audiologists and 2 Assistant Audiologists as well as a Hearing Therapist. We also fortunate to have an experience administration team to support our services. The team works well together across the disciplines provided and all are always willing to help each other out.
We provide an adult audiology service to the people of Croydon receiving direct referrals for Hearing, Tinnitus and/or Balance disorders for all adult patients aged 18 yrs and older. We provide both diagnostic assessments and a rehabilitation service (hearing, tinnitus or balance disorders). We support otological ENT clinics. We also provide the electrophysiological service., To assist in the day to day running of the Audiology Service. The patient group to be seen includes adults. The post is based in the Hearing Centre at Croydon University Hospital though there is an outreach clinic at Purley War Memorial Hospital. To undertake simple and more complex test procedures in all cases, with or without supervision, as appropriate. To fit and evaluate hearing aids, including digital hearing aids, by utilising the Modernisation of Hearing Aid Services (MHAS). To have knowledge of the assessment and treatment of tinnitus. To have responsibility for specific aspects of the service. To have access to training opportunities regarding electrophysiology, vestibular rehabilitation and tinnitus counselling. To ensure the best possible standard of patient care there is the need to liaise closely with other specialist clinical technical, therapy, medical and nursing staff.
