Full Job Description
- To provide independent diagnostic Audiological testing of adults and children, to be responsible for the safe use and calibration of equipment and ensuring accurate records are maintained. · To provide a comprehensive independent hearing aid service to adults and Children including determining care plans for individual patients, and involving carers and families as appropriate. · To take an active role in areas of clinical audit, research and clinical governance for the Audiology service, which may include designing and completing audits within own field, participating in data collection for larger projects, and contributing to the development of evidence based protocols. · To plan and prioritise elements of own workload, within the framework of service delivery priorities as defined by the line manager, and supervise the work of trainees/students and volunteers, as required. · To be responsible for the smooth running of a specified area of the audiology service, to be determined., · To use effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills (including observation) as appropriate during encounters with patients, carers and others, where, in addition to hearing loss, there are often other barriers to communication. (E.g., visual or other disabilities, developmental age, language or cultural differences, anxiety, aggression, dementia or memory loss.) To include communicating information by telephone, in writing or electronically as required. · To communicate effectively with colleagues both within Audiology, and across other disciplines and/or organisations as necessary. In particular to obtain guidance and advice, raise concerns about individual patients, and ensure the best possible patient care. · To maintain links and work effectively with other professional services, to maintain effective channels of communication between colleagues within Audiology, Speech Therapy, Social Services, ENT, Parents/Families and voluntary services as appropriate. + To prepare detailed formal reports to referrers the report should take into consideration all relevant factors within the history, testing and observation. This includes the analysis and interpretation of highly complex and often conflicting Audiological findings to contribute to the diagnosis and management of the patient. To formulate recommendations for further investigation, rehabilitation or referral, within professional boundaries, to seek advice from peers/seniors as required. We are looking for a highly motivated and committed Audiologist to work in our friendly team. You will be working at our Audiology sites at Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone, a community site in the London Borough of Redbridge and at a community health centre in Loughton. The department provides comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiology services to an extensive population covering Waltham Forest and Redbridge London boroughs. This position will be based in the adult audiology department and the suitable candidate will have to have at least 1 years' experience working as a band 5 Audiologist. Qualifications required are BSc in Audiology (or equivalent).
