Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Haematology team as a Band 7 Senior Biomedical Scientist at the Scarborough Hospital Site as part of the Scarborough, Hull, York Pathology Services (SHYPS) Network. You will be working with the existing senior team to provide Senior BMS support for Coagulation andMorphology. Additionally, there will be a training officer role for the site. You must be a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Biomedical Scientist, and hold an appropriate post graduate qualification that includes Haematology speciality (MSc or HSD). Experience of quality management/audit, training or leadership experience would be advantageous. The Haematology Laboratory is equipped with Sysmex XN and CN analysers. Interfaced with a telepath LIMS system, which is in the finalstages of transferring to Winpath Enterprise.Main duties of the job The post holder will take delegated responsibility for day-to-dayoperational matters of the Coagulation and Morphology section of the department, and deputise for the Chief Biomedical Scientist on technical matters in their absence. They will supervise, train and develop subordinate staff, including Biomedical Scientist (BMS), Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners and Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLA) ensuring that proficiency and competence and personal and professional standards of that group are maintained. The Post Holder will work closely alongside Senior BMS colleagues at the York site to ensure harmonisation of procedures and policies.
