Full Job Description
This role is an opportunity for a current Biomedical Scientist to move to a Senior role within Chemical Pathology for a 8 month Secondment/Fixed Term post. This post is available until the Winpath Enterprise (WPE) project has been completed, this is projected to be by April 2025 but could be later.
The post holder will act as the point of care testing (POCT) lead within the Blood Science department. They will be responsible for attending various meetings, managing POCT devices and their training, ensuring sufficient supplies are ordered and delivered to the POCT users locations, attending devices which are out of service, conducting staff annual appraisals, maintaining up to date records of maintenance, QC, calibrations and services for all devices and engaging with the departmental quality management system.
This post will be working alongside other BMS staff within the Chemical Pathology department.
Main duties of the job
1. Oversight and management of day-to-day operations related to point of care testing (POCT)
2. To review and manage EQA performance related to POCT devices
3. To oversee and support training of staff using POCT devices to ensure a high quality of work in maintained
4. To engage with quality management system (NCNs, audits, etc) and to support accreditation under UKAS ISO 15189 standards
5.To act as the expert point of contact for POCT related queries
6. To resolve technical issues related to POCT devices
7. To ensure effective stock control in maintained
8. To manage personnel issues and escalate to laboratory management if required
9. To liaise with suppliers to ensure an effective service is maintained
