Full Job Description

This is a very exciting time to work in Sheffield with our large-scale investment in the built environment and our new organisational values, which complement the direction we are heading in as a Core City. The Building Control Service is a key part of the Planning team, and this opportunity will be perfect for a competent professional looking for the next step in their career. We are looking for a suitably qualified, experienced Surveyor with a broad range of skills who can make an immediate impact. Utilising your solid foundation of Building Control experience, you will be a part of a busy team delivering a quality service. In Sheffield, people are at the heart of what we do.   • undertaking plan assessments and site inspections to a wide range of applications including high value commercial and complex residential projects
  • negotiating and advising developers, applicants, and other interested parties
  • delivering an excellent, value for money service to our customers
  • contributing to the continuous improvement of our service and professional practice, You will work within the framework of, and promote, Sheffield City Councils corporate vision and values

    Full membership of a relevant professional body would be advantageous. You will need to be or working towards a Registered Building Inspector (RBI) with the BSR at a commensurate level.

  • If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade. Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
