Full Job Description

The role of the Senior Business Manager is in the Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education sub-directorate within the Midlands Workforce, Training and Education directorate. The post holder will lead the operational management of regional portfolios, for example recruitment, and training programmes. The Senior Business Manager will report to the Head of Operations, and work closely with the senior team, to ensure operational delivery of the core business, leading performance and risk for portfolios under their remit.

Development of the local office functional teams and regional responsibilities, the processes in place and the other staff involved in delivering all aspects of PGMDE activities to respond to the challenges, changes and needs of external organisations in order to ensure that a robust process is followed, and outcome is achieved.

With the senior team, lead the strategy for the continued system development of the multi-professional healthcare education team, and ensure a 'one team' approach across the department and its different inputs to the recruitment and training pathway.

Maintain and enhance the reputation of the organisation with all stakeholders, including doctors in training, NHS England, GMC, and other NHS organisations.

Engage with key strategic stakeholders internally and externally, at both a regional and national level, to lead the development of strategy and policies for trainee recruitment and educational training.

Work with providers and clinical experts to design new approaches and deliver upon existing requirements for postgraduate educational recruitment and training support.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Educated to master's level or equivalent experience in administration, business, or management.

Evidence of recent CPD and ongoing learning.

PRINCE2 Foundation Level project management or experience of managing projects

Operational management of a service organisation at a senior level

Responsibility for budget management in Co-ordinate the expenditure for staffing and resources, monitoring expenditure against target areas and ensuring that the budget breaks even.

Significant working knowledge of the functions of a postgraduate medical education.
