Full Job Description

Delivery of simulation courses for junior cardiology trainees in order for them to become familiar with and learn the core practical skills required in cardiology, matched to the curriculum in the JRCPTB. Examples include cardiac catheterisation, temporary and permanent cardiac pacing, pericardiocentesis and EP mapping and ablation. The fellow will therefore need to be at a senior level in either electrophysiology or coronary intervention, to enable them to teach key cardiac practical skills to more junior colleagues.

Further development will include the design and development of an advanced cardiology practical simulation programme, to facilitate and augment clinical practice. This will include training in complex coronary intervention, cardiac device implantation and cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac ablation. The senior fellow will be supported by a junior simulation fellow and consultant who will assist in the delivery of this programme as part of the simulation team.

This post is designed to allow for a cardiology senior fellow level trainee to:

  • Develop/ expand their skills in Human Patient simulation (HPS) and Medical Education alongside clinical training roles

  • Publish research on their chosen area of interest in HPS/Medical Education
