We are recruiting for a Senior Civil / Structural Design Engineer to work in our Engineering Team in the London office.

About The Design Business:

RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple, niche sectors from residential housing developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy and more as we strive to achieve the right balance between form and function when faced with competing priorities around sustainability, materiality, cost and constructability. Digitalisation is at the core of our delivery model allowing our clients and their stakeholders to really experience our designs right from project concept stage and through drawing on expertise spanning decades, industries and disciplines, we assist clients to harmonise design drivers through inspired engineering, architecture and development services.

What you'll be doing:

You will be working closely with the team Director and supporting the project lead. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of design/ drawing production to assist in the technical delivery of projects.

Additionally, you will:
Collaborate with the team, delegate tasks and communicate effectively
Mentor junior colleagues; provide technical advice and guidance
Attend and contribute to project/ client meetings
Assist with site inspections and surveys as required
Undertake design tasks based on expert technical knowledge
Oversee and maintain high-quality technical design output
Establish and maintain good relationships with external project team members and clients
Recognise and manage cost/ time and budget implications and also support in preparing fee proposals
Produce detailed technical output using design models and expert knowledge
Validate design models and calculations and contribute to technical specifications and reports
Manage drawing production and ensuring BIM protocols are adhered to
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and mentor junior team members

Ideally Chartered or able to demonstrate progress towards achieving a professional qualification (CEng) with either the ICE and/or the IStructE
Have a broad building structures capability with a minimum of 7-8 years post graduate experience
Knowledge and experience of undertaking building surveys and structural assessments would be beneficial, as would experience of tall building (15+ stories)
Competent in relevant drawing, modelling and experienced in the application of relevant design software
Strong technical knowledge of relevant legislation and standards
Good commercial awareness and project management skills and experience
Manage continuous professional development and stay updated on legislation
Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent written and verbal communication skills
