Full Job Description

AXIS is seeing a Senior Claims Analyst, International Claims to join our Claims Shared Services team. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide timely, accurate and relevant reporting, analytical and operational support services to the Claims function. This role will mainly involve working closely with the Claims Management Information and Operations function, the Offshore and Claims Adjusting teams as well as several other areas of the business, including North America. In this role you will produce management and regulatory information, reporting, presentations, and analysis relative to the claim's portfolio.,

  • Work with various database extracts to deliver information using Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI

  • Support the production of MI and Regulatory Returns on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad hoc basis

  • Owning the preparation of governance papers e.g. Insurance International Claims Committee, Risk Committee, and various Portfolio Packs by providing data, analysis, deep dive investigations and delivering a meaningful message to stakeholders

  • Display information in a clear, concise format to include tables, graphs, charts, and reports, consistent with the AXIS brand and Data Policy

  • Review existing Reporting & Process notes as needed, and write up detailed notes with clear instructions that are easy to follow

  • Facilitate and support the offshoring of Reports and conducting regular reviews of Reports that have been offshored

  • Analyse data, identify trends, undertake root cause and deep dive analysis into individual claims and groups of claims by developing detailed understanding of and utilising internal and Market databases (Lloyd's CRS, Lloyd's Insights Hub, COAD, ECF2, IMR, IRIS, RiskWrite, Dynamics & DOCOsoft) as well as subject matter expert knowledge

  • Working cross-functionally to gather both data and non-data inputs, to derive actionable and meaningful insights.

  • Suggest control measures to undertake if requirement discovered during any aspect of your day-to-day tasks

  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a dynamic environment with an aptitude for analysing data and put forward practical and forward-looking ideas to drive success and elevate current data

  • Provide support to the broader operational Claims function and Claim Handlers and work to resolve and triage queries appropriately where necessary

  • Support claims data initiatives to ensure data collected and the associated messages interpreting the data meets both International and Global claims requirements

  • Assistance, participation, and involvement in Market Initiatives like Faster Claims Payments, BluePrint2, Gemini. This includes but is not limited to testing, building reports.

  • Activities to be performed in compliance with Company policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements

  • Promptly notify relevant parties of any perceived risks or failures to existing activity or control measures

  • Support the ongoing development of the Claims function to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency ensuring reports meet the business requirements.

  • You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

    The successful candidate will be able to think beyond the core reporting responsibilities, be a results-driven team player with a can-do mindset focused on continuous improvement and will support claims data, analytics, MI and reporting objectives. You will be able to identify improvements, explain exceptions and be proactive in all aspects of the job role. You will also carry out activities that support the day-to-day operations of the business.


  • Working alongside the Data & Analytics team, your job will also be to develop the Claims MI suite further. This role will also engage and introduce the job holder to scheduled projects contained within the International Claims Change Portfolio Plan. An ability to manage a varied workload to meet strict deadlines is essential.

    Experience of the London Market, Bureau processes to include the role of Xchanging is an advantage.,
  • Educated to degree level, preferably in a numerical or analytical discipline

  • Experience working within a Lloyd's / London Market Insurer with proven experience in Specialty markets and a good understanding of associated claims processes, procedures, and systems.

  • Advanced Excel including pivot tables and vlookups

  • Ability to learn to navigate and understand internal databases (IRIS, RiskWrite, Swordfish, Dynamics)

  • A good understanding of the Bureau processes, the role of Xchanging, Lloyds V5 formatted bordereaux, ability to navigate through the London Market systems such as CRS, Lloyd's Insights Hub, Class, ECF2, IMR, DOCOsoft is critical to this role

  • Initiative, curious and proactive with a thirst for knowledge to learn and grow. Have a can-do attitude, team player, collaborative attitude, ability to take ownership and deliver

  • Be able to dig in and independently problem solve to find solutions in a dynamic continuous improvement environment

  • Previous experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other databases an advantage but not essential (training otherwise provided)

  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise fashion relevant to the audience

  • Numerate, analytical and solution focused, working to deadlines.

  • Integrate with colleagues in other departments by participating in Axis led initiatives

  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a dynamic environment, multi-task with an aptitude for analysing data and making practical and forward-looking decisions to drive success.

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability and experience supporting strategic initiatives impacting key stakeholders and reporting to senior management.

  • Experience working on cross functional teams, collaborating, actively participating, and delivering solutions.

  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, problem solving, analytical, and quantitative skills including the ability to analyze and interpret financial and claims data.

  • Proven prioritization skills with the ability to balance both the immediate needs with broader organizational strategies.

  • The ability to issue spot and escalate issues that could present challenges to a project or the organization.

  • Willingness to assume additional responsibilities and undertake professional qualifications for personal and professional growth.

  • Good conflict resolution skills to effectively deal with people with differing expectations and viewpoints and to build strong cross functional relationships and partnerships.

  • Ability to work in a Hybrid environment, in the office 3 days per week.
