Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced qualified accountant (AAT, CIMA or ACCA) to join our Birmingham based contract management team as a Senior Client Account. As the post holder, you will manage the reporting, budgeting and forecasting requirements for a key client with circa 1600 let and vacant properties, developing the internal processes for clients of this nature. You will also be responsible for managing a team, running the day-to-day transactions and accounting systems (cash book, debtors and creditors ledgers, payment runs etc). As a Senior Client Accountant, you will use your experience of budgeting and forecasting to ensure that we are providing the best possible service to our clients. Some previous experience in the property sector would be preferable, however, a keen learner with a can-do attitude will go far!

Main tasks:
Key elements of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Manage transactional team running the accounting systems on behalf of the client, including banking, cash books, sales and purchase ledgers

  • Complete detailed and accurate month end financial reporting statements for the client in accordance with reporting KPIs

  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for the client covering all revenue and expenditure streams, working with both internal and external colleagues to ensure information is accurate and reliable

  • Ad-hoc accounting analysis and reports for the client

  • Work alongside colleagues on other clients to ensure cover at all times

  • Ensure best practise is shared and implemented across the client accounting group.

  • Support the existing management teams in providing the financial advice and reporting to the clients, attending meetings with the client at levels including those in a senior position

  • Alongside the National Head of Client Accounting provide accounting support to tenders and mobilisation for new contracts with particular regard to financial reporting requirements

  • Working closely with CMT, other members of Client Accounting and the IT business analyst team to ensure existing and new processes, reports and analysis meet client requirements

    Ideally you will have gained significant experience in a busy finance environment, within industry, managing multiple stakeholders and demonstrable experience of managing a team. You will have knowledge of budgeting and forecasting and significant experience in using complex financial tools within MS Excel to create month end reports and budgets. You will need strong communication skills, a professional approach and fantastic time management skills.

  • Previous experience in property is preferred but not essential. It is crucial to have excellent attention to detail and accuracy, be enthusiastic and pro-active with strong numeral and written analytical skills. Strong interpersonal skills, good commercial awareness and teamwork are extremely important. It is also essential you are fully computer literate with a thorough understanding of MS Office programmes, particularly Excel.
