The Senior Clinical Educator for SACT will act as a specialist in SACT education and practice development . The expectation of the post holder is to support the inpatient Oncology/Haematology Wards and the Day Treatment Units in the training and maintenance of SACT skills to ensure the delivery of patient-focused, evidence-based care. There is an expectation that the postholder will provide clinical support on all units where SACT is administered, both in Oxford and at the Brodey Centre in Banbury. Some evening and weekend working will be necessary. The successful candidate will lead in the development of nursing staff through the creation and implementation of relevant education and clinical skills training. They will design and maintain education programmes/training that facilitates acquisition of the necessary skills, knowledge and competency in Haematology, Oncology and associated SACT. As a longer-term aim, it is anticipated that the postholder will ultimately lead in the development of an in-house SACT education course to support staff in achieving competence with the UKONS SACT Passport framework. Informal visits are highly recommended., The SACT Senior Clinical Educator will act as a specialist in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) education and practice development within Oncology/Haematology at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The expectation of the post holder is to support the inpatient Oncology/Haematology Wards and the Day Treatment Unit in the training and maintenance of SACT skills to ensure the delivery of patient-focused, evidenced-based care. The post holder will:
- Act as an exemplary role model for best clinical practice and Trust values
- Work to an agreed job plan to maximise education delivery to support staff and patient safety/experience.
- Supervise and manage clinical educators to promote effective working across the education team.
- Use expert knowledge to actively promote and contribute to a positive inter-professional learning environment
- Deliver education programmes at a divisional level and where required cross divisionally in support of organisational priorities.
- Work as part of the local and corporate practice development teams
- Manage and lead education teams
- Develop, implement, and evaluate education programmes

- Work with clinical management to anticipate and address the educational needs of the service
- Work across boundaries to proactively develop and sustain partnerships

Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) trained nurse with a passion for education? We are looking for a motivated and passionate senior nurse to develop the new role of Senior Clinical Educator for SACT within our specialist cancer centre. Applications are welcomed from experienced, committed, energetic nurses who can demonstrate a proven track record in clinical practice, innovation, leadership, commitment and an interest in providing training and developing our SACT nurse workforce within both oncology and haematology. You must be a degree-educated Registered Nurse with evidence of level 7 study. You will have a SACT qualification, post-registration acute nursing experience, with experience and qualifications in supervising and assessing learners. - UK Health related recognised Degree, relevant to post
- Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of NMC / HCPC revalidation
- Appropriate period of post-registration acute nursing experience
- Evidence of specialist knowledge appropriate to the clinical area or practice development and education
- Evidence of experience and qualifications in supervising and assessing learners
- Recognised qualification in administration of Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT)
- Experience designing, delivering and evaluating programmes of education
- Evidence of study at level 7 Values and BehavioursEssential criteria
- Able to identify high standards of health care and demonstrate the proven capacity to champion change and innovation that delivers these high standards
- Able to identify the role of education in fulfilling these values and demonstrates a passion for education in this context, Demonstrates ability to maintain and contribute to the development of standards of practice, conduct or decision making in conjunction with team leaders/ward manager/unit co-ordinator, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
