Full Job Description

The post is a Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine, contracted for 40 hours with some opportunity paid additional hours via staff bank in both the Emergency Department at Royal Blackburn Hospital and the Urgent Treatment Centre at Burnley General Hospital, These posts are designed to attract those doctors who wish to settle in an area for a five year period and advance their career in Emergency Medicine. Although posts are for 24 months, they are the stepping stone for gaining the skills required to become a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine.

Successful applicants will populate a 24 hour senior clinical fellow grade rota. Competency documentation will be completed based on the Royal College of Emergency Medicine training syllabus and each post holder will have an emergency medicine educational supervisor and a clinical supervisor for each secondment. Post holders will be encouraged to pass the MRCEM exam if not already qualified.

Each appointee will have an individualised personal development plan according to need.

For entry at Senior Clinical Fellow level, applicants should preferably have significant experience in Emergency Medicine. They should have completed as a minimum two years of full-time regular hospital service following completion of Foundation Training, of which one year should be in Emergency Medicine, and the remainder in relevant other specialties.
