Full Job Description

The Department of Gastroenterology/ Hepatology are appointing an IMT3 (senior clinical fellow) level doctor to support acute gastroenterology and Hepatology in patients at the Grange University Hospital.

The post will be ward based with the opportunity to attend specialist outpatient clinics and observe inpatient endoscopy (there will be no formal endoscopy training associated with this post)., The main responsibilities are for the effective and appropriate medical care of inpatients admitted under the care of Gastroenterology.

The duties and responsibilities will be appropriate to the grade and speciality with appropriate consultant supervision.

This will include the assessment, monitoring, and initiating treatment, with colleagues and under consultant supervision.

Attend consultant and multidisciplinary ward rounds and supervise relevant junior medical students who may rotate through the directorate.

Undertake regular unsupervised ward rounds on the relevant ward to ensure patients are making satisfactory progress.

Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion.

Attend clinic as part of continuing professional development.
