They will work closely with and learn alongside the Medical Education leads for Specialist Medicine, the Chief Registrar and the Clinical Director.

This post would be suitable for any doctor capable of covering SPR level work. As a minimum it would be expected the candidate have 2 years clinical experience from initial qualification and have Part I of their MRCP. This post would especially be suitable for Specialist trainees (ST4 or above) who wished to go OOP or IM2/IM3 level Doctors looking to take a year out before progressing into IM3 or ST4.

The General Medicine Department in Leicester is inviting applications for a new post in Medical Education. This is an integral part of a wider strategy for the Emergency & Specialist Medicine Group to improve delivery of Undergraduate and Postgraduate training in Medicine. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to be involved in multiple projects to help deliver and co-ordinate medical education across the CMG and will also be encouraged to undergo a fully funded Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. Clinically the candidate will help provide senior cover of a medical ward at the Leicester General Hospital and take part in an out of hours on-call rota on that site. It is anticipated the candidate will work 50% clinically and 50% in Education.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

high-quality care for all,

being a great place to work,

partnerships for impact, and

research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

we are compassionate,

we are proud,

we are inclusive, and

we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
