Full Job Description

Candidates who hold the FRCS (Plast.) examination, which may be post- or peri-CCT, and require subspecialty training in lower limb trauma reconstruction and microsurgery.

  • The Microsurgery and Major Trauma Fellow post has been running at the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire Major Trauma Centre since 2016. This exciting and essential role affords opportunities for trainees interested in working with the multiply injured patient. The MTC provides a multidisciplinary pathway of care for the most severely multiply injured patients in the East Midlands. Pre-hospital triage protocols ensure patients are transferred to the MTC within 45 minutes unless there is a requirement from stabilisation at a trauma unit en route
  • Expected caseload: It is anticipated that between 50-100 Major Trauma patients will require input from the Plastic Surgery team per year, and approximately 100 microsurgical procedures will be performed electively per year within the department at UHCW.
